You don't know what you don't know. As you embark on your wedding planning journey, ASK QUESTIONS, no matter how small or insignificant you may think it is.

I remember planning my wedding (19 years ago 😳), and I wanted tulips for my flowers. Now, mind you; I got married in October, so definitely not the season for tulips. My florist had an honest conversation with me and informed me that tulips would cost 4x that of roses because they aren't in season. Guess who went with roses? 🙋‍♀️

One of the most common things I hear when working with my couples is, "I didn't think I cared about my invitations. THANK YOU for making the process fun and showing us what is possible!"

You don't know what you don't know. I ask for your budget for a reason...and it isn't to be nosy. It helps me guide you into options to elevate your design and enhance your experience without breaking your budget. You do not have to settle for *big box* stationery.

Guess who has spent the last 3 DAYS trying to track down paper for a couple's invitations suite??? 🙋‍♀️

Three, yes three, different suppliers showed this paper in stock and available on their website. None of them had the paper in stock and none of them could give me an ETA. It wasn't until I called the manufacturer directly (Yep, I'll do that) that I learned this paper had been discontinued.

Rant: Suppliers-Please keep your website updated. It's incredibly frustrating to design a suite only to find out the paper you need isn't available. Had your website been accurate, I would have gone in a different direction and saved myself three days of tension and heartache for my couple.

Couples: I check websites constantly throughout the design process. The last thing I want to do is create something you ❤️ only to be unable to deliver. I have multiple suppliers and other resources to ensure your suite is exactly what you want.

PSA: The paper supply shortage is still undeniable. I will do everything in my power to meet your requests, but please be willing to be flexible if needed. So much of this is out of my hands.

I’ll never forget the day I decided to chop off all my hair. It was hot. It was humid. And I was miserable. I was walking into Hobby Lobby when this much younger gal walked by with the cutest pixie looking all sassy and cool. I promptly decided, “I want that,” as I looked in the window and saw a drowned rat staring back at me. Off to Carrie’s I went, and the next thing I knew, my long hair was sitting in a pile on the floor. I felt elated. Liberated. I felt…sassy and cool. And then it happened. Four months ago, I woke up and wanted long hair. Really long hair. I’m talking mermaid style, whip in your face with the wind, long hair.

Welcome to one of the most awkward experiences of my life. This isn’t the first time I’ve grown out my hair, so it isn’t like I didn’t know what I was getting into. Mushroom stage, mullet #1, bowl stage, mullet #2….I’ve been at it for a few months and am solidly in the bowl stage. Luckily, each stage only lasts a few months before I embrace the next level of awkwardness. Who am I kidding? Most days, I look like I rolled out from underneath a rock. At least my shoes are fabulous.

Honestly, growing out a pixie is a long process and downright awkward. Am I making the right decision? It’d be so much easier to keep it short. What if I hate it after it’s long again?

✨Let's make some place cards together.✨

Escort card or place card? What is the difference and are they really needed?

𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 are exactly that. They are used to escort your guests to their table. They are displayed at the entrance to your reception and have your guests names and table number on them. Your guests locate their card and take a seat at their designated table.

𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 are already placed next to, or on top of, the individual place setting for that guest. This option gives you ultimate control over where your guests are seated. If you are having a plated dinner their meal choice will be displayed on the place card so serving staff will know which meal to place where - rather than having to ask each guest.

How much do wedding invitations cost?

Cue me throwing my hands in the air because I honestly don’t know. But, surf the internet, and you’ll find an article from The Knot stating the average is $400 and another from Wedding Chicks stating the standard is $1000.

The truth is there is no correct answer. There isn’t even an average. Every company charges differently based on various factors, such as geographical location, years of experience, and who knows what else. 🤷

But there is an easy formula to determine YOUR stationery budget. Determine what 8-10% of your wedding budget is, and set it aside for your wedding stationery. Most of this will be spent on your invitations, but this also includes your save-the-dates and day-of stationery.

Picture this: Your cousin, who you grew up with, but haven't seen in years, arrives home after a taxing day at work. She grabs her mail and is immediately drawn to the soft texture and gorgeous typography of the envelope. ✨ QUANTITY
👏 I can not stress this enough! 👏EVERYTHING in stationery is based on quantity. We can only give you pricing if you provide us with this number. No number, no pricing.

✨ GIVE US YOUR "MUST HAVES" AND THINGS YOU'RE WILLING TO COMPROMISE ON.
You want all the bells and whistles - letterpress, wax seals, envelope liners, and ribbon, but are willing to compromise and have one piece pressed + liners and forgo the wax seals and ribbon.
