How far in advance should you order your wedding invitations? It’s a good question…and I get it all the time!

Invitation designers and stationers have a different timeline since all the preparation is done before your wedding day. Unlike other wedding professionals, we can work with couples who may share the same wedding date, so while there isn’t a mad dash to reserve your wedding stationery, there is still a time frame to keep in mind.

You'll want to reach out to your desired stationer before ordering to talk about your wedding invitation ideas beforehand. This will help ensure their timeline fits yours and their skill set(s) cover your desired items. Also, they can let you know if additional time is needed for the design/printing process. Want letterpress and/or foil stamping? This automatically adds 5-6 weeks to the printing process alone.

As a bride, you must keep track of many dates and information. Like most things, there is an “ideal” amount of time for the invitation process, but every couple has a different amount of time to work with. Whether your wedding is in three months or three years, this breakdown will help you decipher when to start your invitation design process.

Does anyone else roll their eyes when you come across a social media post about what is “in style” or “going out of style?” Wear this/not that type of post or one about the latest trends? To be fair, I’ve never paid much attention to such things, even as an owly teenager. I was the girl in high school who wore heels and pencil skirts when jeans and oversized sweatshirts were in fashion. To this day, I channel Jackie O, Coco Chanel, and Audrey Hepburn. I wear what I love, and makes me feel confident and beautiful. Sometimes life dictates a different path, and while I currently live in athleisure wear (hello mom of a 7-year-old boy, and president of the PTA), I can assure you my love of tailored, classic styles remains strong and is my true, authentic self.

I've run several marathons, all with the goal of qualifying for Boston (I have to run a 3:40 for this). When I first started training, I thought my program was 4 months long and then it was over after the race. This is far from the truth. I'm always training for my next race. Every run has a purpose, whether it's to gain endurance, increase my speed, or simply slow down and enjoy the journey. It's only the 4 months just before the marathon that training becomes intense, overwhelming, and I end up in tears a few times. And then race day comes. No matter my training, there are so many things I can't control. The weather, how I feel, if my body is going to cooperate. But oh boy, what a feeling, to cross that finish line. To know the work I put in, the journey I took, brought me to my destination...whether I finished in a 3:40 or not.

Planning a wedding is much like running a marathon. Full of joy, anticipation, excitement, long, overwhelming, and at times, bring you to tears. No matter how well you plan, life happens and you have to navigate that at the same time.
